Update from original review: The problem arose over the weekend and Primula customer service emailed first thing Monday morning to find out what happened. They told me this has never happened before and sent a new kettle for the night. I checked the grip and the pin is very strong and doesn't have a locking mechanism like the old one. I am very satisfied with both the kettle and the support from the manufacturer. First Feedback: The metal pins in the handle are loose and detaching from the kettle causing the handle to fail. I bought my teapot on June 20th, 2020 and I use it daily to make tea (one teapot every evening). Tonight when I picked up the kettle to fill it I felt my hand sting and the lid wouldn't open when the lever was pressed. As I put the kettle on, I noticed that one of the pins in the handle was sticking out (into my fingers) about half an inch. I only used the kettle once a day and have never dropped or abused it. This kettle replaces one I've owned for over 30 years. To be honest, I expected more from a solid stainless steel kettle.
