I really, really wanted to like this juicer but the only reason I bought it was to juice leafy greens like romaine lettuce and kale. This juicer just does not handle the very fibrous pulp of leafy greens well at all. This causes you to have to disassemble it and clean the fiber out of the extraction port halfway through making your juice and yes, I follow the directions and cut everything into very tiny pieces before putting them in the machine. I love the fact that it is quiet. I had a high speed juicer years ago that I felt I needed to use hearing protection every time I used it. I have a feeling that this juicer would be fine for making juice from softer fruits if that is what you want. However I prefer to eat fruit with the fiber intact otherwise all you are left with is juice high in fructose which I feel is not the healthiest thing to consume. I have a Vitamix which I will have to go back to using for making green smoothies. The reason I really wanted to like the Hurom is that making a smoothie with Kale, especially the dinosaur skin type can leave a somewhat unpleasant texture. In conclusion while the Hurom juicer has many pros, for me and the reason I bought it, the cons are far too many for a machine costing over $400.00. Mine is going back.
