Produced perfectly chopped salt the first time, great purchase! But FYI, it's important to note that the grinder body is plastic - the description of ceramic refers to actual gears. Ceramic grindstones ("teeth") are essential for grinding salt, as salt corrodes/oxidizes metallic grindstones (in pepper mills), causing rust and breakage. The plastic body of the grinder doesn't feel cheap to me, mostly because it grinds so well! It's a good weight and I think it will last many years beyond my wooden pepper shaker. Very happy!
