There are 3 other gates in my house very similar to this one. The main difference lies in the type of lock. In all cases, the latch is plastic and quite thin. I have forgotten the brand of my other 3 although they are still the same brand. I like this gate but the latches don't work anymore so we keep climbing over the gate instead of opening it. At least it's great exercise. Anyway, I see the same with these gates. You just have to remove the plastic fasteners. they don't last.
