I think this tripod will do for most needs. At first I was surprised how light this item is, which made me a bit skeptical at first. I use this tripod to support the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 20-60x80 spotting scope. Being a relatively expensive spotting scope, I wasn't sure how this tripod would perform with such a large telescope. A tripod can support the scope, but most of the lens protrudes in front of the tripod, making the entire rig a bit heavy at the front, which can cause it to tip forward on impact. Not much, but only worth mentioning. To solve this problem, you can extend the two legs on the forward side under the front of the scope to make the rig a little more stable. The quick-release function is a very nice addition to a tripod. Overall I am moderately satisfied with this tripod. I think it will be fine for easy long-distance shooting, but I would be open to another tripod that I find more stable.
