Review on ๐Ÿ”† EPEVER MPPT Solar Charge Controller 40A - High Efficiency PV Solar Panel Controller with Remote Meter and Temperature Sensor by Juan Huerta

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Bad document. Non-American

I bought this to replace a 30 amp ZAMP charger. I wanted an MPPT charger to improve battery health. Looked very well made. Installed with 2 PVs charging 4 deep cycle 12V DC batteries in parallel. Also has MT50 interface. Error codes are poorly documented. The illustrations are not fully signed. Some sentence structures are difficult to understand. I don't know how to contact the supplier's technical support from the Revain Store. Contacted the manufacturer's support service in Beijing, China. They answered basic questions, but the language barrier tended to get in the way of detailed technical questions. The inverter I used kept posting an undocumented error message. 12 VDC load current shutdown and overload current error message. Apparently my 1500W inverter has failed. Connected directly to the bits. Battery fuses blown. Murphy at work. The inverter worked with the old setting but failed with the new setting. I disassembled the inverter and checked for shorts and burnt components, then reassembled the unit to check the circuit. Some debris has been cleared. I will update the review with the test results. I also removed the 4215 billion metal backplate. The component side of the panel showed some discoloration over the fuel components. As a precaution, I put thick tape over the exposed connectors and solder joints that seemed close enough to the backplate. The PV module and batteries have been charged well and the MT50 is excellent for system monitoring. The reason I didn't mention I don't like bad documentation on this type of hardware and I don't like spending a lot of time looking up tech support contact information. I want to talk to vendor or manufacturer technicians without writing a bunch of "helpdeskโ€ to read ISO9001 checklists.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
