Before this one, I've used a couple other water fountains for my cats for the last few years, one of which is from Petsafe Drinkwell and the other Petkit. I am forced to retire both for two issues, however, I've found this particular fountain free from any of those issues.Issue 1. DrinkWell has an all-open bowl. The good is water is still accessible even if power is accidentally off, but the bad is water becomes dirty very fast due to dirt and hair in the air, which eventually clogs the pump and is trapped in any corners making it extremely difficult to clean.Issue 2. Petkit has a closed bowl, so it is less likely to become dirty in a short amount of time, meanwhile the top tray can reserve about half day's water when power is accidentally off. However, the pump is soldered to the base of the fountain, and it is inevitable to twist the flimsy cables every time cleaning it. The cable of my fountain is broken in less than one year, and the seller does not sell/offer this cable, so you end up buying another one.This particular water fountain has a pump connection similar to DrinkWell, which means you will not come across any problems taking it off for cleaning. At the same time, the bowl is similar to Petkit making it less susceptible to dirt and hair, and its top tray can reserve about one day's water.Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase so far.
