Review on Fight Dentist Mouth Guard by David Hodgson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Disappointing, yet still functional.

After I saw a picture of someone with a cool Canadian mouth guard, I immediately tried to find a Mexican flag one. I was pleasantly surprised to find this seemingly cool little item, and ordered it without hesitation. Once it arrived in the mail and I opened the shipping envelope, I should have had a camera take a picture of my disappointed face, because even the guys who animated Ren & Stimpy couldn't have possibly came up with the look on my face at that moment. The Mexican flag mouth guard by Fight Dentist, as far as its functionality is concerned, is good. I still recommend the Shock Doctor Adult Pro Strapless Mouthguard (Smoke) for its thinner design though. This one is just too thick for my mouth, and as you may or may not know, not all mouth guards, no matter how well their average review rating is, will fit you as well as they do everyone else. The guard is white with the graphic applied, though it looks VERY cheap in-person. All the stock images I saw of the guard before ordering showed the green and red flag colors going all the way up and down the front of the guard. In reality, they cover about 75% of it. Someone took a basic white mouth guard and slapped a sticker or something on it, and it was crooked too! The 'Hecho en Mexico' logo in the middle is small as well. Of course it's going to be a little small given that mouth guards are small by default, but it seems like an after thought when you finally see it.This guard is your standard boil-and-bite mouth guard, and it can be trimmed on the sides if you need it to fit better. I'm still not able to make much use of it given the thickness. Again, this is just my personal problem. My mouth's so small that when I was going to get braces 15 years ago, 4 teeth had to be removed before getting them (and later on, I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled too). People with normal or bigger sized mouths won't have any problems with comfort I'm sure. And if you do have braces, the manufacturer states that this can be worn with them without any issues. It's just that stupid cheap-looking graphic that kills me. I was really looking forward to getting this and using it in matches. The design is sure to last a long time, like most of the others made by Fight Dentist, without chipping away. Either way, I feel it's a rip-off when the real product doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does in the stock images. Buy at your own risk.

Pros
  • Seems a good product but I messed it up when trying to mold it.
Cons
  • Cut the upper part of my mouth and made me gag the whole time wearing it
