Broken after complete assembly with half cubes empty

The assembly instructions were terrible and not even numbered correctly and it was a nightmare to put together until I figured it out from pictures online. Even then, it seemed like inserting one part would break the other. The hammer that comes with it is useless, not wooden as the description says and I had to use a stronger one to tap the connectors tight. About a month after assembly, I was casually stuffing clothes into one of the cubes when a plastic connector snapped, sending this shelf down to break the connector closest. There weren't any connectors left after reassembling, so I figured I'm stuck and try to find another solution to keep the whole thing from falling apart. There were clothes on the shelves (T-shirts, not even heavy clothes!), no books or bricks. The pseudo instructions mentioned zip ties for extra support, but there weren't any in the box. Luckily we have her big bag. I started fixing what seemed to be the weakest point and just like the first build, fixing one spot only broke another. THE WHOLE 20-CUBE THING CRASHED ONTO MY HEAD. Luckily there were only clothes. Now I have more mess buying these things to even fix. I have quite a bit of experience assembling products, so this isn't a beginner's problem. What a nightmare. The return time is over, so the lack of money is just the icing on the cake.
