The product description does not mention that you need to replace the screen every 6-12 months as stated in the supplied manual. And you need to pour bleach into it from time to time. And it needs to be installed indoors because you can't expose it to sunlight or low temperatures. The filter housing has a short 1 in. straight thread (BST) with a washer coupling that is reduced to 3/4 NPT. The instructions say you need 20 turns of teflon tape to seal. it is not suitable for properly tapered threads. I threaded in a good 1" stainless steel fitting and felt a "hard hit" as the threads bottomed out, rather than the gradual increase in tension you get with tapered (NPT) threads. The manual shows plug-in connections, not the supplied threaded connections. Looks like a great filter just not for 1"NPT. But you MUST buy replacement parts which are obviously not on sale. Return.
