This is a great hand blender. not better. Regardless of the brand, everything burns out after about 1 year of use (which is why I aim for a 1 year guarantee), ie I mix my breakfast shake every day. For reference, this typically includes 10 ounces of water, 2-3 ice cubes, frozen blueberries, bananas, baby carrots, whey protein, and dry oatmeal. My wife sometimes uses it to make soups. My last one blew up after my 13 year old daughter tried to make a plain ice cream milkshake and the motor burned out. As a rule, this is the reason for the failure of these devices - their use is not intended. I appreciate the stainless steel blade that won't rust over time and the detachable blade that's dishwasher safe. There's a piece of plastic on top of the blade shaft that might look like it's about to break, but it outlasted the engine so apparently it's good enough for the job.
