The ZVOX works well in most situations but can require a certain amount of experimentation to get the sound right for each show or movie you watch. It has weak bass so I added a powered subwoofer also based on ZVOX's recommended models. I don't find the surround sound setting to be very effective except for sporting events (if you like crowd noise). We got the ZVOX because so many British shows and films make picking up dialogue difficult. Many other shows and movies have too much ambient background noise. Being able to bring the voices froward is great. However, the biggest issue my wife and I have with the ZVOX is finding a comfortable volume. Even with voice clarification the volume I prefer is too loud for her. I have just added for my use an Avantree 6018 earbud setup and now we both have voice clarification at comfortable individual volume: ZVOX for her, and Avantree earbuds for me.
