Seagate unit and warranty BAD

I know you can get a "lemon" sometimes, but I was blown away by the way Seagate customer service handled this issue. Seagate claims they offer a 2 year warranty, but let me share with you my experience of a dead hard drive being covered by support/warranty. The item was purchased about 90 days ago but has not been used for several weeks; and after that it was easy to use (e.g. Time Machine backup for a couple of laptops). Then after about 2 months of use it died last week. I've tried looking for a different adapter to make sure the adapter isn't the problem, but I couldn't find the unique adapter that came with this unit (Seagate PSU: 12V 3A / cylinder outside 5.5mm inside 2.5mm centered plus). So I contacted customer service about this and they asked me to buy one to test their drive. Yes, they didn't send me a replacement adapter to test their product, they wanted me to buy one. Therefore, in this interaction with the support team, I have decided to return the device under the product warranty. As I was told they only guarantee the product and will NOT cover returning the product to them for a replacement. By the way, your warranty replacement device will be refurbished, not new. another surprise in warranty coverage. I mailed the drive to Seagate today and my wallet is over $20 lighter. HOORAY. So given the experience of the device (60 days of moderate use) and Seagate's support/warranty, I have to give this product a ZERO!
