If I could give a -1000 star rating for Netgear customer service I would do it without hesitation. They are the WORST. My extender was working for about half an hour out of the box before it started having trouble connecting to my home WiFi and we lost internet access on every device throughout our house. I called tech support and spent hours over several days and the best answer they could ever give me was that my router must be broken. After much deliberation about what new router to buy to get my stupid power strip working, I lost interest because it just wasn't worth spending $400-$500 on a new modem and router for me. I should have returned it right away, I take the blame for that, but I took it back a few months later because my mom said she was looking for an extension cord and I figured if the problem was with the router, she had it somewhere else. router and everything will be fine. I brought it to her house and couldn't even connect, called tech support and they said my 90 day window had expired which is correct so I said ok I'd like it through a one year replace warranty. They said no problem, just buy another tech support package for a year or two that costs the same or more than the device itself so they can follow the troubleshooting steps and if they end up finding that it is is actually faulty, they will refund me the money they would charge me for my service contract. I've already spent days and hours on the line with them to have them mistakenly blame my router for causing the problem in the first place. Firstly I don't trust their tech support and secondly I don't believe in their integrity. I asked if I could speak to the manager of the rep I spoke to and she said no it wouldn't help, they would just tell me to buy a package. I said it's funny you don't send me to your manager and they said again no I don't send you to my manager because they just force you to buy a package and you said you don't want that do. . The one year warranty is a complete lie, in fact you have 90 days of very poor customer service and technical troubleshooting and you will waste a shameful time of your life before admitting a fault, if ever. It is only a guarantee if you are willing to pay them the price of the item yourself to fix whether there is actually a problem or not. They are liars, they are bad people, this is bad company. The unit never worked properly, not at the end of the first day, not at the seventh month where I am now, they refused to replace it under warranty unless I paid them the cost of the extension cord to order to sign their service contract and basically said if I don't like it there's nothing I can do and just eat up the cost of this utterly useless piece of plastic they made and sold to me.
