Review on πŸ”ͺ SHAPTON Ceramic KUROMAKU Whetstone Sharpening - High-Quality Abrasive & Finishing Products for Superior Finishing Results by Ryan Gilliam

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing value. #1000 and #5000

Excellent stones. Bought a 1k orange gem and now a 5k pink gem. Bought because I have a BearMoo combination stone that needs frequent lapping while these stones require much less maintenance. Shapton 1k leaves the edge almost as well as BearMoo 4k. 5k Shapton is fantastic. The manufacturer's specs recommend rubbing 2 stones together to even them out when the surface is no longer smooth. I use this method with great results. (And no, it doesn't waste any real estate, as you might think.) Another note about the included instructions is the recommendation to use the non-printing side of the stone. To keep the logo and markings visible in case you ever forget which bricks you have. The rest of the instructions are: 1) Do not soak the stone. These ceramic stones only need about 3 minutes to soak in and then stay moist during use. 2) Do not leave in the sun. 3) Don't try to dry them too quickly, wrap them in a towel or just let them air dry out of direct sunlight. 4) Do not leave them in the car, do not allow sudden temperature changes or prolonged exposure to high humidity. 5) No hot water. Cool/warm is preferred. 6) No chemicals. Send them in the dishwasher and you will no longer have a working stone. Check out my YouTube for lapping videos.
