This is a good boost converter except it needs a soft start function. You can do this manually with a power resistor (30 ohms, 50 watts) to pre-charge the input capacitors. Otherwise you risk blowing up the device (I did). I came up with a simple circuit using a time delay relay and a resistor. Turn on the relay and the boost module (through the resistor) at the same time, and after 5 seconds the relay shorts the resistor. The ICM102B timer works well, is inexpensive and easy to wire with only 2 terminals.
