would not give them. 5 Stars. In general, the block is good. Sharp corners and out of the 8 I bought only 1 or 2 were imperfect (corners chipped). MDF is a wonderful product for the type of art projects I work on. This block in particular differs from offers from other companies in that the large facets are veneered on both sides and not on one side in other products. I don't see the point of this as no one as far as I can imagine would want that smooth, shiny trim on one side, let alone two. These blocks are used for drawing and coloring, as well as attaching various papers to the front, back and sides. The paneling that they attach to the MDF had to be primed with two coats and then painted with two coats of paint instead of one and one like I usually do. I would advise just looking at one side and finding a material that isn't as smooth and absorbent as what they are using now. It would be perfect. The rest of the blocks were fine.
