Works great, but should be in a PCIE-1 slot on the motherboard

I had a *really hard* time getting this card to work on my PC, but with help from the manufacturer ( UFON ) I finally got it set up and working fine in the end. My symptoms were that the device was recognized but not started in Windows 10, especially after configuration changes. Sometimes I could get it to boot normally and on a couple of occasions it would connect to my network but disconnect after 5-10 seconds. The UFON sales support staff responded to my email request for assistance within a day. They provided the key information that this adapter must be in a PCIE-1 slot for compatibility AND since it is an INTEL based card it may have compatibility issues with AMD based systems. Luckily I have an ASROCK motherboard with an Intel i7 processor. After switching the adapter to the appropriate PCI slot, configuration was easy. INTEL has good documentation for their software driver, which is also helpful. The card now connects to 802.11AC with no problems and I get a sold 585 Mbps connection sometimes going as high as 650 or even 866 Mbps. Of course, this depends heavily on the distance to my Xfinity router. YMMV. The Bluetooth network capabilities are also a bonus! Had there been more detailed instructions or compatibility information I would have given it a 5 star rating but as I had a few hours before sending it back to Revain I took it down a notch. Very glad I got rid of my old 2.4GHz connection. Life is good!

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
