I just experienced a power outage in my house. I pulled out the battery jumper I had and the unnamed DC/AC converter I had and tried to boot my laptop from it. It just won't work. keep honking and breaking. So I decided to try this Tripp Lite inverter. Just got it, plugged it into my laptop to charge and it started right away, no problem. I have a 400w inverter just to give me some headroom. I measured 60W DC input and 51.4W AC output, so the efficiency is 86%. Please understand that the picture shows the 12V cigarette lighter input cable. , it also comes with an alligator clip cable. It's theoretically impossible to run it at a full 400W AC with a cigarette lighter input, which in a car only has a 15A fuse (180W DC) so you can max out 156W AC from the outlet with a cigarette lighter adapter
