Sticky Gate (Waffle Maker)

I have had this waffle maker for two years now. When it worked, it made perfect, crispy waffles. But the longer I have it, the more it sticks. I followed the instructions in the video and book. I left it dirty I compulsively cleaned it of all particles. In desperation I improvised with a spray oil. I ended up having too many breakfasts where I had to put down the iron and turn waffle batter into pancake batter. One too many times I was left with broken waffles, butter everywhere, angry kids, breakfast yet to be made, and a big mess to clean up. Eh I move on to a metal waffle maker, which is actually non-stick and will actually soak up the oil in the "liquor" in question. Good luck with your choice! -- Addendum: I did a little research -- some people believe that aluminum accumulates carbon from cooked butter over time, and that this dirt makes the iron stickier and stickier (it doesn't "cure"). "The effect you get with cast iron). I used a non-toxic grill cleaner to remove carbon build-up and gave the plates a thorough coat of grease. We'll see if they actually make waffles anytime soon! -- Update 2: No. I took it apart cleaned it like crazy gave it my best oiled it up and ended up losing a couple of breakfasts to this beast just won't let it out so we ended up with this thing at the end of the road Good luck again!
