At first I thought that the term "basket" probably describes a vase. I like the basket itself, but when it arrived there were some pretty big problems. First it was wrapped in a piece of black tarp, and then it was sealed with shipping tape, lots of shipping tape. It had a very strong chemical/naphthalene odor which was overpowering upon opening the box. Second, the basket itself also had the same very strong smell. There was a square of opaque plastic (the same thickness and weight as a black tarp) stapled to the neck of the basket. I suspect it was placed there for fresh cut flowers and water but you could see the plastic through the weave of the vase/basket and it wasn't very attractive. I removed it as I have no plans of using it as an actual flower vase and found that it actually smells like plastic, not a basket. Problem solved. I like the way it looks and the clear cylindrical vase fits in easily if I decide to use it as a vase. Finally I feel it is overpriced for what you get. The photo of it on the internet looked more durable and made of better material. I would not order this again.
