Works great in combination with Hudson Gel Needle Cleaner

I bought the screen cleaner along with Hudson Gel Needle Cleaner and I have to say I am delighted with the results. My records are clean and look almost new. They sound GREAT too, that's the main thing. With this combination I am rediscovering my vinyl. Vocals and instruments now sound new, bright and "real". My Rega deck has never sounded better (and they don't recommend cleaning like this! Huh?) I was skeptical at first (but encouraged by the Revain reviews), like all audio gear it's expensive and usually useless, but with this one I got it ' I'm converting now. Old squeaky records will still sound squeaky BUT the improved sound quality makes up for it and scratches will appear less noticeable. Records in good condition now sound GREAT! A fairly noticeable difference in the accuracy of each entry! I was surprised by the quality. The improvement in sound quality and response was amazing. Now I'm convinced that vinyl CAN sound better than CDs! Using Disc Cleaner is quite fun. It's also very easy. This will NOT damage your record label! (several reviewers were concerned about this) Even if the label gets wet, the liquid wipes off easily and leaves no residue. I've found, that the cloths supplied with the device remove liquid from the LP quite satisfactorily after the cleaning process (3 turns clockwise, then also counterclockwise). However, I would like to add that I find it useful to wipe the record dry in ONE direction. Here is my technique: - Firstly, place one of the cloths on a hard surface as a pad for the operation. It will also absorb plenty of excess liquid. Fold the other fabric over a third of the width and then over a half of the length. This roughly corresponds to the size of the playing area on one side. Rub the vinyl SLOWLY clockwise (I prefer ac). Don't "rub". A slow, steady movement draws a lot of fluid from the disc. Then gently wipe again to remove any residue. You will see the drips disappear and the record will look like new. The REASON I fold the cloth is so I now use the opposite DRY side to finish wiping the record. Turn the plate over. You will see a blotchy effect from the other fabric and it dries. With the side now slightly damp it is easy to wash off to look the same as the first side and again you can use the dry side to finish the shot and you are done! On subsequent cleanings you will notice that the "wipe" cloth will begin to get wet. a little. So I fold it so you can just turn it over to the drier side for more cleaning. One wipe with this method is enough for at least a dozen cleanings! The napkin on the back helps too, and you can just turn it over when it starts to fill up with cleaner too. When finished, REMOVE the pads from the device. Leaving them in solution reduces their potency. Common sense really. When you take them off, squeeze them tightly to clean them as much as possible. Rinse under warm water and wring again to remove water, then blot with a cloth and allow to air dry for future use. I also wash the rollers because you will notice that there is a soft rubber part in the middle of the plastic. video clip. I don't know how the cleaning solution will affect so I flush them just in case. I then rinse the rags in a CLEAR soapy water solution, rinse thoroughly, then tumble dry. In fact, you can never be too careful with vinyl! When I'm ready for another cleaning, I wet the pads with the existing solution because the remaining dirt is now at the bottom of the tank and won't contaminate the pads or records to be cleaned. I have noticed that some plates are surprisingly difficult to rotate in the tank. I suppose it's just sand and dirt that makes it this way and I found the STABLE and firm handling did the job and turned fairly easily within two turns. The same with the other direction. Certainly some records are dirtier than others and I found that some got better after 5 or 6 turns in each direction (two cleanings?), but all looked and sounded noticeably better after cleaning. I think the Hudson needle cleaner helped a lot too and would highly recommend it as part of your pack as well. I am so amazed at the difference using these two items has made and I am quite willing to say that the investment was worth it. I can't say if an air purifier that costs close to a thousand would be better, but for that amount both of these air purifiers represented excellent value for money. I am rediscovering my vinyl! Can't say more than that. Happy spinning! But all looked and sounded noticeably better after cleaning.
