Review on Rene Furterer LUMICIA: Illuminate Dull Hair With Radiance Boosting Shine Rinse by Maurice Malek

Revainrating 5 out of 5

NO SILICONE is best.

This new vinegar rinse contains NO SILICONE. As far as I’m concerned it's a step in the right direction. For anyone not familiar with how most silicones damage your hair, they form a seal over the cuticle. Over time your hair will no longer benefit from products that condition and/or add moisture and that includes oils for heat protection (silicone replaces it but blocks out everything else), especially to heat damaged and chemically treated hair. While they generally protect against heat damage and add shine, it’s a temporary fix. I was able to completely restore my hair by using clarifying shampoos over several weeks, eliminating every hair product containing silicone and with the help of Kérastase masks (the ones that don’t contain it, not all of their masks are silicone free) and by using a ceramic brush for blow drying. My hair no longer has the shine that silicones add, but was able to turn back the clock decades with healthier hair. I also color my hair every 4 weeks and the rinse adds noticeable shine that lasts in between washes, volume and has helped prevent color fade.

Pros
  • Hair Care
Cons
  • The LUMICIA rinse may not be suitable for those with very oily hair, as it can exacerbate the problem and leave hair feeling greasy and weighed down
