Update: After a long standstill, it turns out that the fault is not with the cable, but with my USB controller on the mainboard. This cable seems to fit my still working ports. I bought this cable on short notice after moving into my office and realizing that my old cables were now too short. I used this cable to connect to a hub on my monitor for keyboard, mouse and webcam. After a while, all of their connections broke and couldn't be found again without a full reboot. I also tried this cable on a more rock-like hub and got similar results. It seems like a good cable, but I can't maintain a stable connection with it, so I'm replacing it with an active cable.
