Please note I am 100% new to using polymer clay. I've never DIYed before but always wanted to and when I saw this set in the Lightning Deal I grabbed it. First, clay stains my hands, especially dark colors like black. It's really frustrating when you're working with different colors because the pigment/stain gets from one to the next and ruins your work. The variety of colors is nice though, and a decent amount of each type if you're making small amulets. I have no experience with different brands of clay, so I think the clay suits me. When I worked with him, he collected my fingerprints and dents on my nails, which frustrated me. As for the starter kit, I found it was missing a lot of tools/other products that I think would be really helpful (almost essential) for beginners. For example liquid clay (to fix parts), roller, glaze and work surface (glazed ceramic tile or flat piece of glass). really needed or useful as I already had these but not the tools previously mentioned. To sum up this review, the pros are: - Good range of clay colors and good quantity - Comes with a case to keep everything together so you can transport the set if needed - Comes with several shaping/cutting tools - Includes manual with instructions for firing the clay and some project examples. - For some reason the clay's packaging felt greasy, but once you've unpacked the clay you should be fine, although I think you're probably better off buying everything you need separately. It may be more expensive, but you'll likely have a better experience. I'm not very happy and I have a little regret buying this product as it doesn't help me much as a newbie. I wish I had wasted the money I spent on it just to buy what I need individually.
