I was able to treat myself to a gel manicure in the salon for a special occasion. However, it was difficult to swallow the costs. Eventually I broke down and got my own supplies. I'm thrilled with the results! I followed the instructions very carefully and did an extra wipe with an alcohol wipe just before painting to be on the safe side. I applied 3 coats of paint, 1 minute base coat, 2 minutes each for color and top coat. I also painted the edges of my nails. For 4 days without a single chip! This includes gardening and washing dishes (although I wear gloves for both). I work in health care, wash my hands and use antibacterial gel like crazy but so far it has had no effect. One note: the base coat will remain tacky even after it cures, so don't touch anything you'll regret, like cotton swabs. Yes I actually have some cotton threads under colored coats and they are still holding on! In terms of cost, the total cost of the accessories was a bit higher than what I would pay at a salon, but after my daughter and I got our nails done, it paid for itself!
