It lives up to my expectations - it's a solid waterproof case. This isn't a TSA case, so don't expect it to block. The microphone openings are for your standard dynamic microphones. They are not designed for LDC or SDC (Large or Small Diameter Capacitor) microphones. The LDCs are unstable anyway and should have their own affairs. There are two ways to work with SDC microphones. If they are short, you can cut a sheet of foam and stick it in the mic hole to make them smaller. If they're longer, like the Shure SM81, you'll have to take a different approach. The case has a fairly decent rectangular space. Get extra foam sheets, cut them to size and use that space to carry your SDC mics horizontally.
