A Kitsch Classic Appears on Your Family Tree

As I said earlier this month, I had no intention of releasing Hallmark's It's Seasoning. When we got a glimpse of this year's offering, I wasn't impressed. But the moment I saw them in person, I was shocked and knew I had to collect this series. This year we have Santa and Mrs Claus, or as they prefer to be called, Salty and Pippi. Mrs. Claus is Salty and Santa himself is Pippi, Pepper. Mostly red and white. While some of the decorations are shaped like more traditional salt and pepper shakers, it's the color on them that really brings them to life. These aren't the traditional Santas and Father Christmases, but they're a little different from the traditional ones in a cute way. My friend called it vulgar. You know, those overly cute things you see in stores and some kitchens. Honestly, it makes me think of my grandmother and the things she kept in her kitchen. No, they're not overly elegant or demure, but they're cute and fun, and there's nothing wrong with that. But here's a detail I like. You can see the wood texture in the shakers. No, the decorations are not made of wood, but they are very similar. It's details like this that make Hallmark jewelry so special, and this one blew me away. Like salt and pepper shakers, they have a nice flat bottom so you can display them. I don't see any obvious cork to fill them, so if they were real they would have to have screw tops. Both parts have 2 herringbones at the bottom as serial markings. And both are hanging straight. Being a pair of pieces, they each have a ring at the top and are both perfectly balanced. I was completely hooked on this series and can't wait to see what they release next. It's like collecting salt and pepper shakers, only half the size (and only decoration). This makes 'Tis the Seasoning really fun for me.
