I use these gloves primarily for backpacking/mountain climbing where they serve as my "oh my god cold" gloves. Obviously this is a heavy glove, well insulated, durable which means limited dexterity. Tying shoelaces would be impossible, but I can handle rope, axes, and even some zippers decently enough without taking them off. Patrols are amazing in terms of their primary purpose and protection from the cold. As described these are work gloves, they hold up great on snow, ice, rocks and keep my hands warm without getting too sweaty. Admittedly I try to stay away from them and prefer something lighter (I get hot) but when things get bad they help. Water barely starts to seep in and the cuffs work well with shells or puff jackets for layering, although they can be a little longer/wide. The size is a bit small (I wear XL but I'm probably just a tight L). Packability is limited as they are fairly rigid but not too bulky or heavy.
