This will save you a decent amount of money and as far as I can tell it really is the same as an OEM filter (LG to me). It even comes with stickers to make it easy to remind you when to change the filter (if your fridge doesn't have an automatic notification). Update (07/22/2016): It's finally time to use my filters, which I last ordered some time ago and to my disappointment both didn't fit. They were brand new in shrink wrap. I removed the old filter and put in the new one as I had done many times before and my dispenser was getting very little water. After playing around for a few minutes I removed the new filter which caused a lot of water to flood my fridge. It sounded like a pressure relief valve had come loose. Thinking that this problem was limited to one of the two items, I tried the second filter and encountered the same problem. I would return them but I couldn't do it for too long. At this point in time, contrary to my original assessment, I can no longer recommend this product.
