UPDATE: Almost a year later and once again this knife bar failed. I found my knives all over the counter and the magnetic bar dangling. Very disappointed as I really like the magnetic strength. So, I can't recommend this knife holder. I'll be looking for an alternative.The magnet is very strong. However, this holder definitely needs an additional mounting option. The adhesive is weak and I found my holder dangling and my knives all over the counter one evening when the temp. in my kitchen reached 90 deg. (yes, THAT hot-no AC!). I ended up replacing the existing adhesive with a strip of 3M 50 lb double-sided adhesive instead. So far, so good! Otherwise, it is a great knife holder.
