There was an old version Wanted to replace it with this one. It cuts well, but it sticks to thick hair and feels like you're pulling your hair. Not as good as the old one. Typical of any manufacturer these days who is constantly trying to cut costs. UPDATE: OK, I've persevered (because I'm cheap and trimmers rarely meet my needs anyway) and I really think this thing should just be broken in. . After we continued to oil the blades and used "pulling the hair" in between, the situation improved and jamming was reduced to almost zero. So if you put up with it it will start working like an old model after a while which is a huge compliment as I loved this trimmer. I'm not sure what people are talking about the battery. I have the original battery and it still works. Still can't give 5 stars because of the run-in time, otherwise I would.
