OK SO I just built 2 new Ryzen 9 3900X systems which I want air cooled because I don't want to mess with water. I bought a Noctura NH-U14S and added a second fan to optimize cooling. I used the included paste and the temperatures were great, never exceeding 76C with all cores at 4.1GHz for 15+ miles. I wanted to try other pastes and looked at TG Kryo but saw that it breaks at temperatures up to 80°C and then I looked more closely at Noctura paste and saw that it would probably need to be replaced after 3 years. Well, my old server has been running Artic Ceramique for over 5 years with no problems or sin timing changes. A few years ago I used Artic Silver and then Artic Ceramique and decided that I wanted to apply once without worrying about when I might need to apply again. I built both my server and my new workstation, both Ryzen 9 3900X and the same Noctura HSF. As good as many people think Noctura Paste is MX4, it actually gives me slightly better results. Note that the bottom system location is very cold, the server ambient temperature is around 24.5-26°C (76-79°F) and my workstations are often 23.3-24.5°C (74-76°F). and all cores run at a frequency of 4.1 GHz for 30 minutes. The server never exceeded 167F (75C) and the workstation never exceeded 162F (72C) within 95C for the CPU. While many benchmarks say the MX4 goes neck and neck with Noctura paste, I actually see the Artic MX4's advantage at 1-3C. And the MX4 should last 8 years without reapplication. These are really great things. When I pulled out the HSF the Noctura paste covered 100% so the application was fine. It is important. about stamps. Forget what the tests say, this stuff has been around for a long time and works well and all the Artic pastes have been excellent products. As long as you are within the thermal limits of your CPU, choose an inexpensive paste that will last and the MX4 has you covered!
