My work requires me to focus and flow. I'm also often interrupted when others need help, and I find it difficult to delay responding. This timer has helped me set some limits so I can progress on larger projects. I do a 25 minute sprint on a task for a project and leave emails and instant messages until the 25 minutes is complete. Then I read and reply to emails for a 5 minute break. Sometimes I have to take longer breaks, but at least this allows me to focus on a project for 25 minutes at a time and save time so I don't neglect help requests/information. There are apps for this function, but these apps require a look at my phone and only allow for more potential distractions, which is why I prefer this dedicated timer for my purposes.
