A real DIY deal

This is my second bottle of this product although I haven't finished my first bottle yet. While it took 6 months, I think it will take another month. I use it almost every day on my cast iron pans. So don't let the price fool you. A little counts for a lot. Until I found Caron & Soucet's Cast Iron Oil, I couldn't get a satisfactory seasoning (why call it seasoning if you don't want it to spice up your dishes?) on my cast iron pans. . In fact, after buying a lot of cast iron skillets when I got an induction cooktop, I stopped using them because I just couldn't get the whole seasoning process to work for me. This year I decided to take it seriously as using my pans as the large non-cast iron skillet I bought didn't work. Here's what I do and the role of Caron & Doucet oil. Assuming the pan is already seasoned. 1. I put some water in the pan after using it during my other utensils just to soften any food in the pan. 2. When my sink is clean, I put the pan in the sink, pour in hot water, and drain anything that spills out easilyโ€”often that's about it. If there are any bones and bits left, I either use my small piece that looks like steel armor or throw in a large pinch of kosher salt. Anyway, I scrape off the pieces.4. Rinse and dry. and that was important to me. Instead of turning on the oven, I put the pan on the stove. I set it on low heat for 10 minutes (remember I have induction so it heats up faster and probably hotter than the other area). I check if the entire pot is warm by touching the handle QUICKLY. It should be toasty but not bubbling with a quick touch.6. Then I add just a few drops of Caron & Doucet oil and wipe down the bottom and sides of the pot with paper towels. Switch off the range and you're done. Although I use a little more oil every 2-3 weeks or 10-12 uses, after wiping the oil off completely, leave the pan on the stove for an additional 10 minutes, then rub the oil in again. Caron & Doucet oil is odorless, leaves no aftertaste (I cook some delicate flavors in my cast iron skillets - just so I know), doesn't go rancid and WORKS.
