Review on πŸ“Ά D-Link Wireless N 150 Mbps 3G Mobile Broadband Router (DIR-412) - Discontinued by Manufacturer by William Santos

Exactly what I was looking for

D-Link DIR-412 Mobile WiFi Router 3G 11n-based 150Mbps Hotel rooms still require the use of a category RJ-45 connector 5 for free Internet access won't do much good since the iPad doesn't have an RJ-45 connector. The iPad also doesn't have a USB port, so I couldn't use my Verizon Novatel USB760 3G USB modem, which I use with my laptop at hotels that don't have free internet. I've looked at Wi-Fi hotspot type products but most require 1-2 years of contact and can cost up to $40-$60 a month for data service that quickly adds up over 12 months. This device solves the problem perfectly. It can plug into a Category 5 hotel cable or accept several different USB 3G modems to create a local Wi-Fi hotspot for devices like an iPad or iPod, as well as my laptop, to use over its Wi-Fi connection . Setup is easy and works right out of the box. If you want to set up security so that no one nearby can "share" your access point, you can do so using the web browser interface common to all routers. Speed tests showed that when I used my home broadband cable modem as the input, the wireless network speed was comparable to that of my home wireless router. Unfortunately, Verizon 3G signal strength is very weak where I live (1-2 bars) so my download speeds don't exceed 1Mbps, but I'll double check when I'm somewhere with decent signal strength am. Overall I am very happy with this product and will use it regularly.
