A few weeks ago I bought another model with a very strong magnet. I brought it to the fire and it melted. For some reason I chose this brand next time and regretted it. It does everything it's supposed to do to control the heat, but it's the weakest magnet you'll ever have. It keeps sliding on the surface of my grill when I open the lid. I'll keep it as an emergency thermometer, but I'll have to buy another one that actually sticks to my grill so I can see the temp from my seat on the deck.
