I have a new Macbook Pro with an M1 chip and I needed a docking station that would allow me to expand two external monitors. As advertised, this dock allows you to do this when both external monitors are connected via HDMI (if you connect one via HDMI and the other via VGA, both displays are mirrored). The dock heats up quickly and that was definitely a concern as high temperatures and electronics usually don't bode well. After about a week, my external displays were intermittently connecting and disconnecting. I thought it was because one of my monitors was connected to a VGA to HDMI adapter. But the same week that my 30-day return window ended, the device stopped working. None of my external displays turned on when connected to the device (but my Macbook and DisplayLink Manager recognized the connected external display). I can only assume that the high temperature of the device is starting to affect the durability and efficiency of the hardware inside the device. Overall, I would stay away from this dock and go to a more reputable manufacturer.
