Review on Topo Athletic Men's Ultraventure Pro: Lightweight 5MM Drop Trail Running Shoes for Ultimate Comfort and Performance by Joshua Garris

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Total disappointment and nothing with Ulraventure

1. This is not Ulraventure and certainly not "Pro"; I can't imagine a pro wearing them trail running unless they're paid for by Topo.2. The shoe has almost no ground feel and also has an uncomfortably stiff midsole/sole. The upper is unforgiving and doesn't offer the same level of comfort as the more form-fitting faux mesh used in most other shoes.4. Everything Topo did to improve on the original Ultraventure fails here; the Megagrip sole is issued for shoes more suitable for hiking; Zip foam offers no advantage over regular Ultraventure foam and is noticeably stiffer; the tip is relentless; They changed the heel counter and reduced the cushioning around the ankle but made it very difficult to lock the shoe in properly. Topo should have kept the exact same Ultraventure, added the ability to get it with the Megagrip, added an option for "I have a rock plate" and fixed weak points at the midfoot junction between the upper and midsole (this is a problem with all five pairs of mine are original Ultraventures, plus one that other users have pointed out). If only they had, they would have the most epic shoe of the year. This shoe is a waste of R&D, on par with the Ultraventure 2 and one of the worst additions to a shoe family I can think of. I only wear topo shoes so they work well. Unfortunately their customer service is also pretty terrible, they don't endorse their product unless you buy it directly from them which is not possible for most people wearing Topo around the world.
