I bought a trackball to work with a laptop in a confined space. I was very pleased, the trackball is easy to use and suitable for most tasks, except, perhaps, for a number of games. I like that you can precisely position the cursor with minimal thumb effort. Also, unlike with a mouse, we actually get infinite space to move the cursor around. Where the mouse needs to be taken off the surface and returned to the beginning, we just keep scrolling the ball.
