This is a fun and wonderful thing for kids to play with, but now it says it plays MP3s and it seems so. It will play them if they are on an MP3 player, but if the MP3s are on a CD the device will play very loud sound effects and nothing else. Very very disappointing for our birthday boy who has been waiting over a year to listen to his CD set before bed. But other than that, it's a pretty good device. Just note that the capabilities of the system are misleading through the package
