Before buying, check the manufacturer's support

The printer prints normally for an inexpensive laser printer (compared to Xerox 405s). However, installation is not as easy as 123. Had to contact Xerox to resolve some installation issues. That's the only reason I won't buy this printer again. The big problem with this printer is that Xerox no longer supports the printer on a Windows 7 system. If you attempt to install the printer on a Windows 7 system after Microsoft ended support (January 14, 2020), Xerox will not help resolve technical issues. . The printer was purchased in June 2019. The installation on the first Windows 7 system was successful. However, due to business needs, it was moved to a second Windows 7 system in August 2020. The installation on the second system failed because the print queue could not be created. Exact error message: Could not create queue. 1003/0x3eb. This function cannot be executed. I have contacted Xerox Technical Support. The first time it was recommended to replace the USB cable. I knew it was nonsense. If the installer sees or recognizes the printer, the USB cable is working. But I swapped the USB cable anyway and got the same error message. Call Xerox Support a second time. After about an hour on the phone with her, and after checking with someone in the background, she informed me that XEROX no longer supports the Windows 7 system, even after I reminded her that the printer was purchased in June 2019 and the printer is working is compatible with Windows 7. The printer cannot be returned because the Revain return window is closed. So I got my windows 7 laptop and tried to install a printer drive on this laptop. The installation took 2 minutes and was successful. And the printer works on the laptop. So I started comparing my laptop's Windows 7 system to the system that failed. I know a system change must be causing this. The first thing I noticed was that someone installed Microsoft's new browser Edge on a second system. Since I suspected Edge and its software update were causing the issue, I uninstalled Edge. However, the installation still failed. So before the Edge update, I was looking for automatic Windows system backups to restore to. I haven't found any. All Windows backups were created after the Edge update. Luckily I have a full system backup. Restored with Apricorn EZ Gig. After the repair, the printer drive was installed successfully. Note: 1. Do not buy Xerox printers if you will use them on a Windows 7 system. Xerox will not provide you with technical support if you encounter technical problems.2. Don't install Edge or any recent Windows 7 system update. Although Microsoft allows Edge to be installed on Windows 7, I suspect it's not as clean (bug-free) as we expected. Microsoft has now abandoned Windows 7 and doesn't expect them to debug software on Windows 7 as thoroughly as they should. If a problem arises, you're on your own.
