Review on Brady BMP21-PLUS Handheld Label Printer: Rubber Bumpers, Multi-Line Print, 6-40pt Font by Tom Oberhue

Waste Waste Waste Very expensive labels

I bought this to replace my cheaper Dymo consumer paper label printer. Brady wastes more very expensive tape than Dymo. There is no way to adjust waste or fields. 1" ribbon fits 1-1/16" labels, but only 4 lines of 5 characters in 6 point font on 3/4" wide tape. The rest of the empty space is more than 2/3 of the bandwidth. Label. 3/8 inch is lost at the beginning and end of each label; This is a typical drop of 3/4 inch per label at about 18 cents per inch (waste of 14 cents per label at $45 for a 21 inch cartridge). I can't find how to change it. The waste may seem minimal, but wait until you use heat shrink tubing. 50 cents for a label too small to read. The labels I needed cost me four times the price of the printer. Accessories (battery, custom power supply, storage case, hanging bracket) are all insanely expensive. Model. The printer function is stupid with minimal explanation in the manual (in 8-9 languages). The Shift key requires 2 key presses to toggle uppercase to non-uppercase and vice versa. The number 9 has no underscore and looks like an inverted P, not an inverted 6. Date formats are very limited. The keyboard separates letters (not qwerty) from numbers. The functions of the setup menu are neither explained nor intuitive. There is no copy-paste function (that I could find) All in all a very expensive disappointment. now something better.
