I have been buying Royal Canin Urinary so dry for ten years now. My 12 year old was blocked when he was 2 and could have died. It was very scary and expensive. Since then they have forced me to buy Royal Canin dry cat food. The price went up and up. I think the last 17 pound bag I bought was almost $70. Crazy. I started comparing ingredients. The "magic" ingredient in urination products is DL-Methionine. It has something to do with keeping the pH of the urine at the right level so cats don't get constipated and crystals don't form. Royal Canin food contains a lot of harmful ingredients and I just read that they have a new so-food formula. In the new formula, DL-Methionine is the 30th ingredient. In the old Royal Canin formula, DL-Methionine was the 19th ingredient. This is not a good change. In this Iams formula, DL-Methionine is the 18th ingredient (if I counted correctly). Iams has some decent ingredients and some crappy ingredients. I figured switching to dry food might be worth a try. Fingers crossed my kittens won't have any problems urinating. If you need dry cat food with urine, I think this is a good choice. Update: Three years later and all is well. I still feed this food and have no problems with urination. If your cat needs a special urine food, ask your vet about it.
