Many problems and problems without manufacturer support - DO NOT BUY!

I was looking forward to one of these for my research and research that requires me to scan text and then format it, but it was a huge disappointment: 1) the documentation was on a CD and was awful. I had to go online and download from the irislink.com website to get an idea of where the battery compartment is and how to open it to insert the batteries. 2) Either the supplied SD card or the scanner itself was defective. The scanner did not format the SD card. Also turning on the device with the SD card installed caused the LED indicator to turn off. 3) Couldn't find anything helpful on the irislink support site to resolve the issue. There was only an old PDF user manual and a guide on how to calibrate the scanner, which was not even mentioned as necessary in the user manual. 4) The scanner only worked in USB mode (plugged into my laptop), but even then it didn't scan the full page of a 6x9 book (black and white text only - no color), which should have been easy. 5) I don't know about the OCR software that came with it, as I've never received a quality scan of any text to use on it. This product was an absolute letdown for me.
