Review on Dell UltraSharp 2209WA Black Widescreen Monitor - Enhanced for Wide Screen Experience by Christopher Briggs

Revainrating 2 out of 5

5 stars if they work. Zero Stars for Dell Support/Service/QC

This is possibly the best solution as flat screens were released with some limitations. I researched them beforehand and found they had their issues, but it seemed like they had been fixed, and at the price I was quoted. .two twelve each, I had to give them a chance. Some issues with tint and red paint have been reported. And no matter what I do to calibrate mine, there's definitely a bit of green that just can't be adjusted properly. It's not annoying 99% of the time, but if you need it, it's a must. I have 2 of these side by side and the picture quality itself is wonderful. When you get a good party! You won't find anything better in this price range. There is no comparison between these IPS and standard TFT. I put the old monitors next to it and the difference is more than obvious. Once you try IPS, you will never come back. The colors are much richer and deeper. The contrast is excellent. The structure itself is solid. Many adjustments up and down and pivoting. The bevel is matte and almost the right size. Not too intrusive next to each other. I use them for graphic and web design. Mainly Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Native 1680x1050 suits me perfectly. Offers plenty of space close by and is a bit easier on the eyes than a full 1900x1200. If I need to watch a Blu-Ray I do so on a dedicated player and my TV, thanks. Ok, so to the problems. I've owned it for about 30 days and my left monitor is starting to output a few dead pixels. Yes, a few dead pixels are no problem. In the next few weeks, the number of dead pixels reached 100 or more. Worse every day. Although only one monitor, the other is fine. So ok no big deal I'll just call Dell and get a replacement. YEAH RIGHT! What a bloody nightmare! After an hour and a half of bullshit, a transfer from India to the Philippines and the multiple recording of "ignore". Eventually they agreed to send me a replacement. What should have been a simple 5 minute exchange turned out to be an extremely annoying endless discourse with too many outsourced NON-English speakers. Does this happen often? I don't know the percentages, but search "Dell Sucks" or anything negative and you'll get a lot of hits! Is the monitor worth it? Well it's a roulette type game but for the price if you can get a good roulette it's a great deal.
