I've been testing lip balms with SPF this summer and have come to the conclusion that I'm very picky about balms. I love how they are soft and melty but last over 20 minutes, feel occlusive but not sticky and have a little shine but don't look like a full shine. I don't want bad tastes, strange smells, white spots or chemical burns. I've had a hard time finding a balm that meets these requirements AND ALSO has an SPF and this seems to be the winner. It's definitely soft, but it can be applied thinly or thickly. It melts easily, is smooth to the touch, moisturizes, has no perfume or food odor and imparts a slight shine. There's no bad smell or white cast and lasts at least an hour, but not all day (which is a good reminder to reapply SPF every few hours anyway). The only thing I don't like is that it spills into cups, so I usually use a drier balm during my morning routine (right before coffee) and then use that throughout the rest of the day. I would subscribe and save if I could!
