Setting up multiple/retro switchable settings on my old ThinkPad T23 and I wanted to use removable media as a hard drive to be able to run different configurations without having to install more The hassle and deprecation of the already old ones IDE interface. No one makes an SD/MMC card adapter that allows you to switch cards without removing the adapter. So I figured a CF to 44 pin IDE adapter would be the next best option and I could use real CF cards as well. I have confirmed that I can use a real CF card with an adapter and install a basic installation of MSWin98 on it. However, since CF cards are becoming rare and extremely expensive, I decided to go with SD-to-CF. . Which ***WAS*** would be a good idea if this CF converter EVER worked properly. What is not. I wasted all my time trying to get it, only to find that it's completely *USELESS* for my needs. You need a solution that uses readily available media, and the media is actually available. It's not like this.
