Review on IGaging ABSOLUTE Digital Electronic Caliper by Chad Carter

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The measurement is absolutely unreliable! Who cares about all the features if you can't measure them?!

Media could not be loaded. I bought this caliper in late November 2018 to use in my job as a mechanical engineer and shipped it overseas where I live. The caliper seemed to work fine, but little did I know it had a serious problem measuring anything. more than 130mm. I only noticed this problem after receiving parts from machining and noticing that the threads on the machined part did not completely match the bolt gap holes in the part I measured. "Jumps" about 5.3mm somewhere around 130mm and then carries on as if nothing happened. This problem cost me far more than the $100 difference in price that a known reliable caliper would have cost. I contacted Revain and was told to contact Anytime Tools (the manufacturer of this caliper) as Revain's liability for the product had expired. After contacting Anytime Tools and telling them about the problem, I was told to follow their ver' information to solve the problem (replace the battery with a new one, wipe the caliper with a mat soaked in WD-40 and press the origin button for 5 seconds). After following the "solving the problem" info, the problems only increased when the caliper started jumping around! I sent another email to Anytime Tools and was told to ship the caliper to the US at my expense and ship it back from the US (again at my expense and no US address to ship it to) so just them ship within the USA. It goes without saying that buying a new caliper costs less than sending the current one back and forth from Israel just to have it repaired/replaced. It is important to add that the caliper has been used and stored in an office environment, always in the box when not in use and has never been damaged. I'm really disappointed with the way Anytime Tools treats their customers and would advise anyone who appreciates what he/she wants. Try to get a caliper from a reputable brand that doesn't have these weird issues and subpar customer service.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options.
