This scanner is more advanced than a basic OBD2 scanner as it can scan every little thing your car encounters. Test. I highly recommend updating the software to the latest version after receiving the device from ANCEL website. My 2015 car didn't even show up so I had to update the software for it to run the correct diagnostics. It's a little difficult to update, so I'll try to provide a helpful guide. Step 1: Connect the scanner to your laptop with the provided USB cable. Step 2: Download the software from Anceldirect and make sure you have downloaded the FX2000 software. Step 3: After you've downloaded the software, it's pretty easy to follow the instructions on the spot. It's great to have such gadgets in your toolbox, even if you're not very crafty. They help you know what's wrong with your car and when you take it to the mechanic you can tell them where the problem is coming from If it's an oxygen sensor this way you don't get ripped off for a simple fix, or you can take a little risk and buy oxygen here on amazon and watch a youtube video on how to replace it. it's pretty easy to do. Great tool to have in your toolbox
